Pudigroan Line and Casualties released for Flintloque

Here they are the first two codes in the whole Pudigrochumsberg Army which is in development at Alternative Armies.  We begin here and will expand with a general, cavalry, light infantry and far more across the rest of this year month by month.  Today it is the turn of the core unit in the Army of the Ruined Dogman nation the Line Infantry and their poor brother hounds who have fallen in battle. These first releases also see the creation of a new category page on our website for the Pudigroan and you can see it HERE.  All of the codes released in the army will be placed here. Additionally we have free worldwide postage just now on all orders over 10.00GBP product value until 30th September all you need to do is add to the cart the rest is automatic.  Read on!

56589 Pudigroan Dogman Line (10)  18.00GBP
This is a set of ten 28mm white metal Dogman miniatures giving you the core regular troops to form your Line Infantry sections and units; the centre of your new force.  These are for use with the rest of the Pudigrochumsberg army but they also serve well in Confederation of Finklestein collections and also revolutionary older style Ostarian Empire forces.   The command poses are an Officer smoking a clay pipe with his hand on a sheathed sword, a Flag Bearer with standard pole and shouldered Musket, a Drummer beating the advance and lastly a Sergeant with drawn sword and an ornate spontoon as well.  The mixed trooper poses are walking with shouldered musket, advancing with musket, reloading musket and finally raising musket to fire at the enemy.  These Dogmen are all 'poodle' types making them the same average height and bulk as an Elf and they use Standard Muskets.  They would make an excellent skirmish section in their own right. You  can choose this set of eight or a full unit of twenty with a saving or the option of purchasing a single trooper to add to your forces. We also offer the additional choice of purchase pro-painted and based by our team here in Scotland.  Go HERE.

56123 Pudigroan Line Casualties (4) 8.00GBP
This is a pack of 28mm white metal Dogman miniatures which give you the sadly now demised casualty markers for the 56589 Pudigroan Dogman Line miniatures.  As with those they will function equally well in the Confederation of Finklestein or older style Ostarian Empire forces.  This pack contains four randomly mixed of two poses.  The casualty poses are a dead Dogmen in line uniform with musket laying face up tongue lolling and tricorne by his side and a face down Dogman in line uniform arm outstretched.  These Dogmen are all 'poodle' types making them the same average height and bulk as an Elf and they use Standard Muskets.  They would make excellent diorama or scenic objectives in their own right. We also offer the additional choice of purchase pro-painted and based by our team here in Scotland.  Go HERE.

For players of our wargames you can find use these miniatures with 5028 Beir & Bones Flintloque 3rd edition, go HERE, and 5030 Slaughterloo go HERE.

We hope you enjoy these new miniatures which were designed, sculpted, molded and painted here in the UK and there are a lot more to come.  If you want to look at previous postings on our blog about the Ruined Kingdom of Pudigrochumsberg you can do so by looking to the right column and the 'Labels' section.  Seek out the 'Pudigrochumsberg' label and click on it.  This will bring up all of the posts.

Flintloque in Pudigrochumsberg during the Bier Wars

With the release of the first codes in the brand new Pudigrochumsberg Army I wanted to let Flintloque and Slaughterloo players and fans in on what is going on here at Alternative Armies in the World of Valon.  For while the Von Rotte Legion and the Army of the ruined Dog Kingdom are both allies of the Ferach Empire and enemies of Ostaria..they were not always so.  Back before the formation of the Confederation of Finklestein and the Krautian League, before the Elves marched to victory across central Urop there was the time of the Unified Powers, the time of the Severed Ears War or to give it the name the Dwarves favour..the Bier Wars!

The Dwarven Beir Wars focused on cities such as Monich, Barlin and Cohol and was on the whole a conflict between a hundred tiny stattes of Dwarves but it did spill out to the Dutchy of Brewswick and involved the then thriving kingdom of Pudigrochumsberg.  Both these smaller lands bordering what became the Confederation of Finklestein and while Artur of Krautia came to blows with Brewswick over the theft of bier casks it was a personal feud between Frederick Von Ales the Baron Von Rotte and the king of Pudigrochumsberg.  King Bonio of the Dogmen was a firm friend of the Baron and even offered his troops barracking and rations within Pudigrochumsberg when the opportunity arose.  However over a fine meal at the royal palace in Saltzbark the king offended the Baron in a way that led to a short war between the two!

Saltzbark is the capital of Pudigrochumsberg and then it was a thriving city famed for many fine goods and among those most to the fore was the tailoring of fine clothes.  As a gift for his friend Frederick Von Ales the king had several suits of silk clothes made and then presented them in person at the palace during the evening feast.  Smiling the Baron opened the ribbons securing the package of clothes and then as his face changed from jovial enjoyment to anger the chatter at the tables quietened and eventually even the musicians stopped playing. A passing Dogman servant looked over the Dwarf's shoulder and giggled. Standing the Baron threw the opened package along the full length of the table scattering food and drink as well as candles and cutlery.  The bundle skidded to as halt on the plate of the king who sat in open mouthed amazement at the other end of the great table.  The Baron roared in anger that he was no prancing Elf, no popinjay and that silver buttons fashioned thus were fit only for a Todoroni.  King Bonio stood and lifting out the garments from the strewn package realised with horror that they were actually meant for the queen.  A dress in bright pink silk with black lace and silver buttons in the shape of wine goblets.  Before anything else could be said the Baron Von Rotte rose and strode out of the hall and in a clatter of chairs his officers also rose and followed him.  At the double doors the now scarlet faced Baron shouted over his shoulder that Bonio should prepare for war.  That by the end of the year he would make the king wear that very dress and throw him in to the pens of the Pummilig riding Pigs.  And so began the short and vicious Silage War.

The War of Silage was a minor part of the Bier Wars but it saw two small but professional armies go toe to toe and featured three major battles and dozens of skirmishes which set the soldiers of Pudigrochumsberg in good stead for the coming war against Ostaria and its murdering lunatic leader the Emperior Klaffenhund.

So playing out The War of Silage in Flintloque as part of the Dwarf Bier Wars.  It is the goal of the Baron Von Rotte to capture the city of Saltzbark and thereby King Bonio to make the king wear the pink dress and to throw him in the pig pen.  To that end a chain of scenarios can be assembled building towards this goal.  I hope to get at least some of these scenarios ready and published for free during the time that Alternative Armies is sculpting and releasing Pudigroan miniatures and of course all of the Von Rotte Legion is already released.

The images in this article are all taken from the early work for the first scenario in the chain currently titled 'Paddling with Pigs'.  This scenario sees a border incursion by Hussar light cavalry against an outpost of Line infantry with the aim of preventing the Dwarves from crossing the river until a rider dispatched to battalion can bring some Dogman cavalry forward to assist the Pudigroan.

These will be interesting scenarios as they are set before the current backdrop of the Beir & Bones book for Flintloque and are closer to the Ferach Revolutionary Wars than the Mordredian Wars. You can visit the Von Rotte Legion and Pudigroan Dogmen on our website. Input is most welcome by email and comment as always and I hope you enjoyed reading this article.

28mm Dwarf Runic Golem Kit Concepting

“The Guild of Spellsmiths and the Guild of Blacksmiths do not often clank tankards of Beir but when they do great things happen.  Imagine said Gumblebeard the greatest of the white wizards what we could do with an axe wielder as large as the common Troll but alas our magics will not take a physical form on the field of battle without intricate preparation.  Such preparation is hard enough without some stinking Gobber trying to cave your skull in.  Tamble 'Blowback' Rustmaker chief of the Guild of Blacksmiths replied to this impassioned speech without spilling a drop of golden hops.  Such a huge warrior would be most welcome and we can hammer and smith our way to clothing him but there is no Dwarf in the realm so big to wear it...  Sparkes of raw mind forging flew from them both and with a resounding clank of tankards they spoke in unison.  Between us we can build it and bind it with magic runes.  A golem will take to the field of battle.  A Dwarf Runic Golem!”

The Alternative Armies studio headed up by our lead designer Sam Croes is working on a brand new addition to our High Fantasy range of 28mm scale miniatures.  Its going to be ready in a few weeks time and now does exist as a prototype model kit however this article is to introduce it and show you the concepting work that went into it.  A Runic Golem is a magic construct of the Dwarfs created by joint effort of their smiths and mages which then obeys simple instructions.  Its not a 'steam and cogs' creation its a magic one in a more traditional Dwarf under mountain stronghold.

As you can see the Dwarf Runic Golem stands about three times the height of a typical Dwarf warrior (the final model will be about 60mm tall) and is emblazoned with powerful runes all over its metal body.  It has thick steel armour making it a match for any Goblin or Orc and even smaller Trolls toe to toe.  It takes a lot of punishment to break the runes and consign this moving magic suit of armour to its end.

The form of the Runic Golem is that of a huge dwarven warrior.  Stocky, slightly hunched over and with a head sat directly onto its shoulders it is perfectly capable of fighting out in the open but it is in the caverns and tunnels that the golem comes into its own.  Able to press itself into the tunnels and using twin double headed axes to carve a path along them the golem can rid a hold of Goblins in short order.

We hope you have enjoyed looking at the concept art for this new 28mm scale kit.

The code of this all resin kit will be DH15 and it will join the other fourteen pack codes and a multitude giving you everything with a saving on the Dwarfish Hosts page of our website in a few weeks time.  We have about sixty five different poses and pieces in the DH series including Dwarfs, Halflings, Gnomes, Artillery, Cavalry and Adventurers.  Great for any fantasy system such as Song of Blades and Heroes. Enjoy!

OH13, OH14, OH15 Goblin Warrior Packs Released!

Three packs released into our classic 25mm / 28mm fantasy range by Alternative Armies.  We are at half way point with the OH series of codes and this time we give you the core Goblin Warriors (all from 1991 and designed by Andy Cooper) that are in the OH line.  Following up on last time when we gave you the excellent OH28 Goblin Chariot kit which is already on the website.  We have free worldwide postage just now on all orders over 10.00GBP product value until 30th September all you need to do is add to the cart the rest is automatic. The three packs are as follows:

“There are few blood feuds that are as deeply felt and as long lasting as that between the Dwarves and the Goblins.  Indeed in the under mountain and the great stone halls war is continual between these two wildly different races.  Armour and axes wielded with stubborn skill is matched with greater numbers and a wild joy of savagery with crude club and blade.  But they are not too different for in the tongues of both you will find brutal mention of each other.  The rune words of the Dwarvish for chamber pot and for cloak hook come from the crude diction of the goblinoid words for skull and nose respectively.  Among the goblinoids the words for meat and for cooking pot are exactly the same as the words for Dwarf and for breastplate.  Even among age old foes there is some humour it seems.”

OH28 Goblin Chariot Released!

A fantastic re-release into our classic fantasy range at Alternative Armies this time.  Progressing through the OH series of codes and this time its the Goblin Chariot kit with wolves!  This white metal 28mm scale kit contains all the parts you need to build a Goblin Chariot with two wolves pulling it and two Goblins riding in it.  The pack is as follows:
OH28 Goblin Chariot
"Racing across the plain and ahead of the broiling Goblin Hordes the charioteers have harnessed wolves to the rickety construction that they made from scavenged  Dwarvish nails and Elvish timber burned at the ends.  Those charioteers who had teeth soon lose them to the jarring clamour of high speed travel and the wolves that are forced to pull the creaking chariot are foul tempered at best and sated on raw Goblin flesh at worst.  With spear and sword the chariot riders lash out at those foes and indeed friends that pass by in a blur.  Death or glory!  That is the life of a Charioteer!"

This code contains one 28mm scale white metal kit with all the parts you need to build a chariot, two Goblins riders and two Wolves to pull it.  Great quality, choice and value. These miniatures are not supplied with bases and are supplied unpainted. Classic Tabletop 25mm Torture Chamber Sets returning

As part of the process that we have already undertaken bringing Laserburn 15mm and Tabletop Fantasy 15mm as well as Historical 15mm (all on 15mm.co.uk) and of course the 28mm Tabletop Barbarians back to the wargaming world Alternative Armies is now moving onto the next stage of this process with the classic Torture Chamber range.  Back in the early 1980's Tabletop Games released a whole series of white metal kits and sets to populate dungeons and battlefields, to build vignettes and populate characters.  This was a very extensive and original idea.  It will take us quite a while to cover all of it but we are beginning with the Torture Chamber series coded TOR.

Alternative Armies has already re-released TOR1 The Whipping Beam set which you can see on our website HERE.  We will be following up fairly regularly with another re-release and in some cases re-molded code until the whole range of some fifteen plus sets is back in the world.  Two things to note.  Firstly we will be starting with TOR2 The Rack in early October.  Secondly this range contains adult themes and nudity among some of the miniatures.  There is nothing wrong with this however we have taken our customers responses into account and we will be placing images of these sets up 'censored' where needed on our blog and social media.  Uncensored images will only feature on our website page for the code.

As a treat we have taken 20% off the online price of TOR1 until the end of the month.

OH19, OH20, OH21 Fantasy HobGoblin Packs Released!

Three packs released into our classic 25mm / 28mm fantasy range by Alternative Armies.  We are not even at the half way point with the OH series of codes but this time we are giving you all the HobGoblins that are in the OH line.  Following up on last time when we gave you two packs of Dogmen these go well with OH2 HobGoblin Raiders which are already on the website.  On foot and from horseback these fierce goblinoids raid and pillage at will!  Go HERE.  The three packs are as follows:

OH19 HobGoblin Khan
Rumours come from the east.  Rumours from the flatlands at the foot of the endless mountains of misery beyond which none will venture.  Rumours of savages that ride down the innocent and sack walled towns without mercy.  These rumours speak of a Khan of the HobGoblins.  What is a HobGoblin you ask?  A man sized Goblin with a streak of cruelty that more than matches their smaller cousins.  Smarter and more nimble too.  The Khan offers a choice every town a choice to surrender or to fight.  Surrender and live and its from these thin wretches that these rumours come.  Fight and no mercy or quarter is shown by the Khan.  No rumours from these sacked places only flame charred and chewed bones.

This code contains four different 25mm / 28mm white metal miniatures approx 28mm average height.  Great quality, choice and value. These miniatures are not supplied with bases and are supplied unpainted. Select your choice from the drop down product menu.  Choose from a pack, three packs with a 10% saving applied and single miniatures.  Total choice!  Assembly is required with some white metal miniatures. Go HERE. Poses in this code are as follows:

OH19-01: HobGoblin warrior with Spear in horned helm.
OH19-02: HobGoblin warrior in armour with Shield and Sword.
OH19-03: HobGoblin Khan (leader) with Sword and Shield.
OH19-04: HobGoblin warrior shouting with Sword and Shield.

OH20 HobGoblin Marauders
By the will of the Khan these HobGoblin marauders carry out his will upon the wide flatlands of far off Mystavia.  In shining armour polished by slaves made of the conquered and carrying blades that were forged in cities now smote from this earth the marauders offer a choice.  Fight or surrender.  They prefer the fight and the taste of man flesh.  Savages.  Rows of sharp teeth and eyes that glow with evil intent mean that the HobGoblins will never be allies of us or any noble race.  I hear that even the under hill king of the Goblins shows them no favour.  Fight or surrender...what a choice!

OH20-01: HobGoblin warrior with Two Handed Sword.
OH20-02: HobGoblin veteran with Poleaxe.
OH20-03: HobGoblin running with Two Handed Sword.
OH20-04: HobGoblin veteran advancing with Sword and Shield.

OH21 HobGoblin Cavalry
A portent of doom comes to any watcher upon the wooden town wall when he thinks he sees a lone rider upon the distant horizon.  Carts and traders are easy to see with the jingle of harness and the faint clink of goods.  Friendly riders from neighbouring towns upon the flatlands fly banners showing their intent as soon as in eyesight of the walls.  A lone rider on a pony that simply sits and looks is what the wall watcher dreads for it could be a HobGoblin dispatched by the Great Khan to scout for new subjects of his will.  Will the walls hold or simply burn under assault?

This code contains two different 25mm / 28mm white metal miniatures approx 28mm average height sitting on Ponies (Two parts per miniature).  Great quality, choice and value. These miniatures are not supplied with bases and are supplied unpainted. Supplied with either walking or running Pony.

VNT1 Eternal Guard
"We made a mistake when we failed to bury the fallen in deep corpse pits. A mistake that cost us all dear at Black Heart Lake. The army marched past the foul shores of that dead lake expecting to face only the fell lords and their minions. Little did we know that those evil doers had the services of a great Necromancer who had followed us and raised the dead. Corpse pits provide rich fruit and since this fruit had not been buried, only piled with those we had slain it meant that the army of the dead had caught up with us. On two fronts we split and I for my sins survived only by shedding my axe and mail and swimming the slimy waters of the lake. Even now I can hear the screams and the endless creaking and brittle motions of bones ending life. Dead sockets where eyes had once been."

We have taken 20% off this code containing five different 25mm/28mm white metal miniatures approx 27mm average height. Great quality, great choice and great value too. You can choose a pack or single miniatures from the five poses using the drop down menu on the product page. Go HERE. Poses in this code are as follows:

First Look at the Pudigroan Dog Line and Casualty sculpts

It is our goal to release the first codes in the brand new Ruined Kingdom of Pudigrochumsberg army for Flintloque and Slaughterloo at the end of September 2015 with more following that. We are currently molding up the Pudigrochumsberg Line Infantry and also the Pudigrochumsberg Line Casualties to that goal but we thought we would show you the original sculpts of these great 28mm miniatures destined for white metal. Here are the codes, descriptions as well as images of the core infantry of this burned and blackened land:

56589 Pudigroan Dogman Line
This will be a set of 28mm white metal Dogman miniatures which will give you the core regular troops to form your Line Infantry sections and units; the centre of your new force. These are meant for use with the rest of the coming Pudigrochumsberg packs but they will also serve well in Confederation of Finklestein collections and also revolutionary older style Ostarian Empire forces. Sculpted by our lead designer Sam Croes there are eight different models in this set and they will be available as a full unit (20) as well as a skirmish set (8) and a trooper booster (1) as well. As with all our Valon miniatures we will offer the additional choice of purchase pro-painted and based by our team of ladies here in Scotland.

The command poses are from left to right an Officer smoking a clay pipe with his hand on a sheathed sword, a Flag Bearer with standard pole and shouldered Musket, a Drummer beating the advance and lastly a Sergeant with drawn sword and an ornate spontoon as well. The trooper poses are from left to right walking with shouldered musket, advancing with musket, reloading musket and finally raising musket to fire at the enemy. These Dogmen are all 'poodle' types making them the same average height and bulk as an Elf and they use Standard Muskets. They would make an excellent skirmish section in their own right.

56123 Pudigroan Line Casualties
This will be a pack of 28mm white metal Dogman miniatures which will give you the sadly now demised casualty markers for the 56589 Pudigroan Dogman Line miniatures. As with those they will function equally well in the Confederation of Finklestein or older style Ostarian Empire forces. Sculpted by Sam Croes they will be available as a blister pack containing four randomly mixed poses. As with all our Valon miniatures we will offer the additional choice of purchase pro-painted and based by our team of ladies here in Scotland.

The casualty poses are from left to right a dead Dogmen in line uniform with musket laying face up tongue lolling and tricorne by his side and a face down Dogman in line uniform arm outstretched. These Dogmen are all 'poodle' types making them the same average height and bulk as an Elf and they use Standard Muskets. They would make excellent diorama or scenic objectives in their own right.

Look for these codes releasing end of September 2015 and there are many more to follow each of which will be previewed in a 'first look' article like this one. Our eventual aim is to make the Ruined Kingdom of Pudigrochumsberg army for Flintloque and Slaughterloo a totally complete one as we did with the Von Rotte Dwarf Legion at the start of this year. This means line infantry, casualties, light infantry, cavalry, command, artillery and more. Its an even bigger line up of releases than for the Von Rotte. Ganesha Games has also made this announcement and more news will follow from them and from us in due time.  For the moment here is the text of the update from Ganesha for you to read.  If you have questions do contact us as usual on enquiries@alternative-armies.com.

NOTICE TO UK AND EU BACKERS
Our UK and EU backers will be very happy to know, that we have just made an arrangement with ALTERNATIVE ARMIES in Scotland to manufacture and fulfill all our UK and EU pledges for Song of Blades: HAMMER and FORGE Kickstarter project.

I have very much wanted to make this project Euro Friendly, but as some of you may know, I have been reluctant to do so unless I knew I could work with a trustworthy, established, and reliable partner. We now have found that partner. ALTERNATIVE ARMIES is a well know and respected company in the gaming industry and has an excellent reputation within the industry for good quality products and good customer service. You can check out their webpage and product range here;

UK and EU backers can now pledge with confidence knowing their orders
will be made in and shipped in their region.

This update has no effect on US orders or orders outside the UK and EU. Which will continue to be shipped from the US. Rest of the world orders will continue to ship from Malaysia.

I and the rest of the team here wish the Ganesha team the best of fortune with this Kickstarter and we are delighted to have been chosen by such a friendly and professional company for this project.
