SDB01 Doom Squad – Go HERE.  Book!

Written by Steve Danes a new nerve-shredding game of special forces action that ranges across three hundred years of history. From the time of Napoleon through to the trenches of World War One and right up to special forces operations in the early 21st century.  A small team dropped in against the odds. Doom Squad is meant to be played as a solo game system pitting your team against the game engine. You can also opt for a multi-player game of 'co-operation' of two or several players going up against the game.  Your troops will be equipped with the latest high-tech weapons and equipment from their historical or current era; which can mean muskets, rifled carbines or assault carbines with red-dot sights.  It all depends on which period you pick. Rules are very simple and easy to use and are based around the use of one or more six sided dice to test for firing and close combat.  Players will control one or more special forces squads and will be faced with an enemy that can be tough, disciplined, confused, resolute, unsteady and always unpredictable.  This title is 44 pages and is a print book (it will be a digital paid download after this event).  On our Tabletop Gaming Books page.

The latest sculpting from Kieran Billings he of the Big Mouth Beast and Crab Monster is here!  Three giant spiders in a value pack each composed of a body and eight legs for a degree of pose choice.  Each body is different and you can use these in any scale from 6mm to 15mm and 28mm. DarkeStorme free Fog of War scenario and play sheets by Vic Dobson

Taking a change from creating excellent free content for the USEME system it is my pleasure to present free content for DarkeStorme the Skirmish from Vic Dobson. DarkeStorme is Alternative Armies generic high fantasy game system for 28mm or 15mm scale miniatures and the rules can be had in print or as a digital paid download.  

Vic has penned a great scenario called 'The Fog of War' as well as several player sheets for the game of his design and layout for your warband and for monsters.

DarkeStorme the Skirmish

DarkeStorme is a high fantasy character driven skirmish game written by Gavin Syme (GBS) creator of Erin 2nd edition, Typhon and Flintloque 3rd edition along with many other wargame rule systems and fiction.  Sixty pages containing Easy to learn D6 engine, Full rules for character combat, Full Magic System with ten levels of spells. A Monster Handling system with 'Amok' rules. Creature generation formula and many Mortal and Undead races. Expansion rules for Cavalry, Artillery and Chariots. A Full Points System. Terrain and Weather generation and special terrain generator.

Create Characters from nothing and lead them through linked adventures and progression. Units of roughly ten to twenty characters in games lasting twenty minutes to over an hour in length. Fog of War Scenario by Vic Dobson

Welcome to Fog of War a DarkeStorme scenario for two players. In this game two groups of warriors search the ruins of a village shrouded in a thick veil of magicke fog, searching for a long lost book once owned by a infamous and powerful magician! Both sides are looking for the legendary lost Book of Borganza, an Arcane Libram (spell-book) that once belonged to the ancient and powerful Mage Borganza the Wylde. The lost book now lies somewhere in the ruins of a long abandoned village in a valley shrouded by a thick magicke fog. But the book could be in any one of more than half a dozen different locations, so both sides have to search the ruins.  Download this three page scenario from our website hosting by clicking HERE.  This download also includes variant play sheets for the game. This time Abraham takes on the forth scenario in the arc of the Escape the Dark Czar campaign; the first one beyond the booklet in the starter box.

A treat for players and those interested in the great renaissance period rules written by Steve Danes called Furioso. A free download of a 'Quick Reference Sheet' QRS for the game created by player of the rules Tony Cane based on his experiences with Furioso. Thanks Tony! 

Furioso is a set of wargames rules that covers European warfare in the sixteenth century. The rules allow players to fight large scale land battles with a simple to use and enjoyable gaming system. Furioso can be fought using any scale figures from 6mm to 28mm. There is a core rule book with army lists and there is also the Italian Wars expansion title too. Hearth and home and the fires of cooking must all be put to the defence of your home when the enemy comes.  Empty the larder and raid the cupboards and get the contents heaped up so that you may block their assault!  This pack contains two identical high quality grey tone resin terrain pieces.  A set of shelves piled with plates as well as sacks of carrots, tomatoes and apples plus other food and kitchen implements. Who does not love such strange dangerous creatures eh!  Great for any game system which needs the oddity and invaders. Here are some scale shots showning these aliens alongside 15mm scale and 28mm scale miniatures from the HOF range and Flintloque starter box.  

Here is an extract from the fiction by Will Grundy all about the Zarglians.  

From the depths of space, the Zarglian invaders come with planetary dominion in mind. These tentacled marauders have arrived to dominate all other lesser lifeforms with their superior prowess and intellect, till all falls to the zarglian race. The Zarglian Stellar sovereignty spans countless worlds and systems, over centuries they have taken planet after planet and subdued many alien civilisations. Usually backwater worlds that offer little resistance to an invasion. Ruled by a ruthless royal line, much of their dominance can be seen as little more than a statement about how great and terrible they are (as can be seen by their huge heads!) It is the Zarglian way to assume that they are the highest form of life in the known galaxy, so humble is not a word they know how to use, and neither is subtle, favouring large displays of power just to show the enemy just how great they are and everything else is insignificant compared to their great empire.

Zarglians are identified by their two main striking features. First is their huge heads and massive pulsating fleshy brains. Often they choose to adorn themselves in elaborate head dress, to further extenuate just how big their brains can be. This is due to their custom of those who have the biggest brain, are usually more intelligent. Contrary to the fact, an average Zarglian is no more smarter than any other star faring race, they just imagine themselves to be. Even though the brain appears to be soft and squishy, it is quite tough and is not easily damaged as you'd think, this comes from millennia of evolution and adaptation , which without it, they would have died out a long time ago.

The other feature that distinguishes them from other creatures is the sea of writhing tentacles they possess as appendages. This makes them surprisingly fast and agile, able to do many things at once. It is unknown how many tentacles zarglians have exactly, experts would say that the number varies per being. With their like of racial superiority, it could be said that this might figure in a similar manner to the brain size. You'd imagine that due to their appearance they require a large amount of water to survive and that is why they seek new worlds to conquer. This is not the case, long have they evolved the ability to operate in many a locale and their tech aboard the saucer shaped crafts is more than adequate to provide them with all to survive. indeed their technology is advanced, lasers, sonic weapons, disintergrators and rayguns, as well as hyperspace capabilities and teleportation. They are ahead in terms of psionic ability, using mind bending telepathic devices to communicate to other races, probably just to taunt their foes and tell them of their impending conquest! So, prepare to serve your new intergalactic masters, and hail the great Zarglian Emperor and prepare for world wide invasion!
