New Modern Tents 15mm scale now released!

Everyone needs somewhere to sleep and often it is not possible to get forty winks in a four poster when you are out in the field up against the enemy. So having a good tent is ideal to keep the bugs, rain, snow and cold out and to keep you snug. Now released into our 15mm ranges new packs of modern tents sculpted by Elton Waters.  These go excellently with our HOF 15mm Science Fiction miniatures.  Go HERE or read on for more.

There are four codes of tents to choose from which are great for any game system.

FMS03 Frame Tent (2 Pack)
This pack contains two identical resin 15mm scale tents which are thick canvas material stretched over a metal tube frame. Suitable for four to six infantry.  Each model is rectangular and is 50mm long, 30mm wide and 35mm tall.

FMS04 Large Frame Tent
This pack contains one resin larger 15mm scale tent which is thick canvas material stretched over a metal tube frame. Suitable as a command post or workspace for small vehicles or eight infantry.  Each model is rectangular and is 50mm long, 50mm wide and 40mm tall.

Contender GNATS Mech 100mm tall released and new Meerkat Spotter Suit!

Alternative Armies is joining the ranks of the giants with two new releases into the HOF 15mm Science Fiction range this month.  Our first big mech (we call them GNATS) and a specialised battlesuit whose role is to find targets for it.  Go HERE for the range or read on for details.

Security Force Alpha just got a major upgunning! As if more than a platoon of infantry poses plus specialised troops, battlesuits, bikes, portable weapons, light and medium vehicles plus drop pods and drop coffin were not enough now the GNATS are here.

HOF131 Contender GNATS Mech
This 15mm scale high quality resin kit contains all the pieces needed to assemble the Contender GNATS.  Standing at 100mm tall when assembled the Contender has eleven pieces which create a durable model made for use on your gaming table.  GNATS stands for 'Giant Neuro Assist Titanic Soldiers' and they are the ultimate weapon of battle.  The model is easy to assemble.  It is supplied unpainted and unassembled without a base (base shown is a 59527 75mm Round).  Refer to the parts image to see what is included.  Other miniatures from the HOF range are shown for scale only (SFA Trooper is 16mm tall).  The Contender is armed with a twin barrel 90mm automatic cannon with ammo hopper plus an under arm 130mm howitzer and a top hull turret seven slot missile pod.  It also has a number of point defence lasers for small scale anti-infantry and material tasks both front and rear. It has rocket pods fitted to its rear to allow easy balance and stance regaining.  Contenders are front line units in the USGC (United States GNATS Core). It is a tier two GNATS meaning it is a main battle size machine. It is 2090 and the world is at war! Go HERE.

HOF140 Meerkat Spotter Suit
This 15mm scale battlesuit kit contains all of the pieces needed to assemble the specialist Meerkat Spotter Suit.  Standing 30mm tall when assembled the Meerkat has seven pieces.  A distant relative of the BearCat Battlesuit this model is easy to assemble.  It is supplied unassembled and unpainted without a base (base shown is a 59025 30mm Round).  Refer to the parts image to see what is included.  Other miniatures shown are for scale only.  The Meerkat is armed with a rotary gatling and a three round striker missile pod.  Its primary mission is to use its powerful comms array with its two aerials to seek out enemy strong points and to relay that information to heavier units.  Often paired with GNATS the Meerkat can be a valuable ally in the field.  Go HERE.

There will be more information on GNATS as well as the near future world of the 2080's in which these giants of war face their foes.  In the meantime if you have questions please do ask us on sales@alternative-armies.com. These are all of our 15mm releases for the month of September and thank you for your custom.

Fourteen 15mm Urban Gangers released as pack and singles in HOF Range

“Like minded individuals often gather together for mutual defence of themselves and their turf. It's a strategy that humanity has employed from the early days of recorded history to the industrial work gangs in the mega cities of earth and Alpha Centuari. However colonial gangs are more often than not the first line of defence in case of siege and invasion as they are farmers and families who have gathered together to protect their holdings and claims from aggression. Once a colony has developed beyond a few small farms and a port is established, the gangs still exist, levying control on areas they claimed at the start of the landing. However other inhabitants may take offense to this and start their own gangs to take back these holdings. At other times they are sprung up from perpetually bored teenagers with little common sense and an eye for violence. On occasion they may even become notorious criminals or just a more militant version of the Planet Defence Forces. Their colours are as numerous as they have numbers, and are often used as a conscript force if things do get dire. Lightly armoured but heavily armed with cheap rec-guns and knowledge, their hold on their turf is absolute and can spring ambushes and raid supply convoys before melting back into spider holes to lick their wounds and strike again later. Their morale is often tied to their leader through a cult of personality, if he dies, they will run. But as most find out, they will be back in greater numbers and with more weapons to settle the score. Colonial life is harsh and brutal enough as it is, but these souls have opted for a more difficult life and will carve out their name and colours... or die trying.”

The brand new release for May 2019 into the HOF 15mm Science Fiction range is a mega pack of 15mm Gangers great for any campaign and setting. Concept by Fred Richards and sculpted by the talented Sean Bullough this pack can be had with all fourteen poses or select poses from it. Above is some setting for these vicious thugs and they are great opponents for your Security Force Alpha patrols or even as Betrayers slaved to the Shia Khan in games of Patrol Angis too. Go HERE for the range or read on for more.

EH04 Gore Worm by Craig Armstrong released!

“Galdar was strong and he was smart.  He walked the bad lands with cleaver and boom stick seeking the good things in the sun life.  The folks in Shan Diago among the toothy ruins of the old times had said not to walk the dirts of the highaways to the west.  Monsters were there they said.  Galdar had laughed at this and had his way with what the tribe could offer before moving on at dawn.  The revelry had cost him plastik and salt beef but it had been worth it.  Now he walked the dirt with the ruins far behind.  Nothing stirred.  No birds, nor running animals which was odd.  Much of the land was poisoned but stuff lived..not here though.  This was strange but he did not feel the sickness of the poison so he walked on.  Ignorant folk they were indeed and soon he was outside a large decayed building with many fallen red signs around its grounds and a mighty rent in its thick wall.  Galdar wondered if there was richness within and decided to try and seek it.  As he approached the soil under his feet began to vibrate and he stopped and drew his weapons; alert to danger.  He saw nothing.  Then the brown dirt broke apart and tentacles rose out of it only a short distance from his feet.  Galdar jumped back and was about to use his boom stick when he halted as its bullets were few and hard to get.  His blade would kill this thing.  As he rose the sharpened steel bar the ground under him suddenly gave way and he was falling!  The last thing young Galdar saw was a bony beak opening and then his flesh was torn and chewed.”

A new monster for use in any scale released at Alternative Armies.  The Gore Worm is the stuff of tremorous nightmares.  Go HERE or read on for more about EH range and this new miniature.

EH04 Gore Worm
Emerging from the ground the Gore Worm is a hunter without mercy.  It senses vibrations and seeks out prey before using its lashing out with rope like tongues and dragging its food to its hard bone beak to be crushed. This pack contains one white metal miniature supplied in several parts which require assembly. It is 17mm tall to top of beak and 25mm across the underside. This code is supplied unpainted and unassembled without a base.  Other miniatures are shown for scale and not included.  Sculpted by Craig Armstrong.  Price 5.00GBP.  Go HERE.

Here is a scale image of the Gore Worm.  On the left SFA Trooper (16mm tall), on the right 5024 General Saindoux (30mm tall).

Two Free USEME scenario and mini-game to download by Vic Dobson

Vic Dobson hits another home run with two more free resources for players of USEME with his scenario 21 and 22 the links for which are in this article.  Puff the Magic Dragon sees a modern warfare game with a super heavy tank returning to the front lines while The Boojum and The Snark is a mini-game of nasty creatures sneaking up on your miniatures in the swamp; great fun.  If you want to find out more about USEME as well as UM001 15mm Science Fiction and UM004 Modern Warfare the sets used for these scenarios then go HERE.

Here are the details of each free download!

Puff the Magic Dragon – Scenario 21.
A neo-soviet super heavy tank is making its way back towards the front line through a small village when it and its protecting squad of infantry are ambushed by a force of Insurgents bent upon destroying the tank.  This scenario features hidden set up for the Insurgents within a number of buildings on the table.  Download the scenario by CLICKING HERE.

UM004 USEME Modern Warfare
Author of the fantastic adaptation of USE ME for the UM003 World War Two rules O.G.Joel has done it again with a set of rules that is intended for ultra-modern games set in the first decades of the 21st century, from Afghanistan to Iraq to Lebanon to Southern Ossetia and beyond. In writing it, it is envisioning combat in today's turbulent world, with high tech equipped units fighting each other or skirmishing with lightly-armed insurgents. This is a world of helicopters and assault rifles, night-vision devices and satellite uplinks, special-forces units and sophisticated terrorists. Many battles await from a few characters a side to whole squads upwards to a major battle.  Digital Download HERE.

The Boojum and The Snark – Scenario 22 (Mini Game).
A multi-player game of USE ME 15mm Sci-Fi. In this game the proprietor of 'Stinky Bobs Bait Shack & Sushi Bar' has organized a hunting competition, the winner of which will get a years worth of cheap watery beer without extra added water … all they have to do is bring back a trophy from the rare and elusive Boojum that lives in the fetid Okelly Dokelly Sewage Marshes next to his establishment … whilst avoiding being head-butted ortrampled by the Bok-Wango! beasts … poisoned by the Lurid Lurgy Beetle … or eaten by the fearsome Snark …  A mini-game for one to several players with rules for creature location and discovery.  Great fun.  Download by CLICKING HERE.

UM001 USEME 15mm Science Fiction
I would like to tell you all something of the origins of what became the USE ME system for miniature wargaming; it will give you an insight into why we decided to publish the system for others to make use of as well as for our own use. In 2009 the lads at Alternative Armies decided to play some 15mm games (sci-fi, fantasy and some renaissance scenarios too) to get us used to and into the whole scale and feel of 15mm miniatures. We did not have any rule systems of our own to use for this scale or settings and though we looked at some of the other systems out there, with a view of getting one or two in to try, we decided in the end not to. Not because we only wanted to play our own rules, far from it. I had played over thirty different games that I had no hand in designing. Rather it was due to the fact that we were all knackered (read this as 'beat' if you are American!) and we wanted something easy, something super fast, something generic and something that we could learn in five minutes and get a game in when we had twenty minutes spare. Oh and some of us wanted a system that was open enough for our children or total new comers to the hobby to be able get into and not be scared off by. I drafted up the original concepts and soon we were lasering, lightening bolting and glorifying ourselves with a lot of satisfaction. Over time this original draft was tinkered with and other variants produced for other settings and scales until back in May 2010 it was suggested to me that we might want to let others in on this 'secret' engine that our own lads were using for just about anything that wasn't Flintloque or The Ion Age. I agreed and here we are.  (Gavin Syme GBS).  Digital Download HERE.

Thanks for Reading and enjoy the scenarios.
