F23 Wyvern 15mm Tabletop monster restored

A lesser Dragon the Wyvern has no arms and seldom breathes fire.  It is a flying snake with a bite of death.  This monster is common on Fantasy Battlefields and we are delighted to present back to the world a classic.  The 1980’s 15mm scale Tabletop Miniatures F23 Wyvern model. Now on the website.

F23 Wyvern:  A three piece metal miniature.  Body with separate wings.  It is 90mm total length and has an 80mm wing span when assembled.  Shown below alongside 501 Human Wizard and F24 Seven Headed Hydra to demonstrate its size.

This creature joins all of the other restored monsters and beasts in the Tabletop Miniatures 15mm Fantasy Range including Dragons and Arch Demon.  

If you like fantasy skirmish in 15mm scale this range has several super value packs of Human and Dwarf adventurers with many poses (they are as singles in their pack codes too).

F22 Black Dragon 15mm Tabletop Miniatures 1980s returned

Following on to the remastered Red Dragon, the Seven Headed Hydra as well as the Dungeon Adventurers and others in 15mm scale for the classic Tabletop Miniatures Range we have another monster eagerly awaited by collectors. F22 Black Dragon is now on the website as we continue to bring back all the codes in this collection which predates not only our own HOT 15mm Fantasy Range but also most of the 28mm Asgard Fantasy as well. 

 

Every miniature in the Tabletop Miniatures Fantasy Range is either a single or a pack (within which you can select singles) or a value saver set. There are many monsters such as the Stone Giant and Rhinosaurs which go well with the Dwarves, Lizardmen and Undead in the range.

F21 Red Dragon 15mm Tabletop restored

Following up on the restored Dragons last week we have just one more this month to make three and its a cracking 1980’s remaster of a long gone but now back model in the 15mm Tabletop Fantasy Range. 

 

Makes us think of brave Wales with the Red Dragon. There are other 15mm monsters in this range currently being restored alongside a dozen monsters already placed there such as the Rhinosaur, Balrog and Fire Giant. 

 

In metal and three pieces it is a fine addition to your fire breathers. F21 Red Dragon was a tricky restoration but it has been done well and has been asked for by several long term collectors. It is 80mm in length and 80mm wide plus 40mm tall. 

 

 

Stood next to the Dwarf King from HOT1 Dwarf Command in 15mm scale and alongside FM62R Giant Tick which is FREE in every order shipped out automatically until 5th March 2024. 

 

We recently remolded the excellent Asgard and Tabletop Human Adventurers as packs, singles and value skirmish sets with a saving. Great for dungeon crawl and many other uses and including Wizards, Warriors, Barbarians, Pack Mule and more.

Alternative Armies is always beavering away with projects. From Flintloque to The Ion Age to Erin and many other ranges and scales there are new creations a plenty from our team. Along these projects is one ongoing which is close to our hearts the restoration of Asgard Miniatures. Here be (restored) Dragons for HOT in 15mm scale

Two of our out of production monsters in the HOT 15mm Fantasy Range have been newly remolded and returned to the website. One in metal and the other now cheaper as a resin kit. Here be Dragons! 

 

Imposing in 15mm scale these creatures are shown on either side of HOT117 Elf Hero on Griffen (35mm tall to top of helm) one of a great many High Elf codes in the range. 

 

 

The mighty HOT37 Destroyer of Hope Grand Dragon is a fine centre piece for your army. Made of eight pieces it assembles easily and is 120mm to the top of its wings. Shown with HOT1 Dwarf King for scale as our Dwarfs in the Range are often used as foes for mighty winged monsters. 

 

 

She preens and plots HOT23 The Sitting Dragon is often used in HOTT 2nd edition as a behemoth or marker. In three pieces it is a very detailed creature and in a pose not often seen in 15mm scale. 

 

 

Alongside HOT121 Armoured Elf Cavalry with Bow you can see another warrior ready to oppose the golden hoarding of the Dragons.

VNT42 Lord Ruza on Great Wyvern Kildane and also on Horse

“I would not have thought it possible but then none of us had ever seen a warlord like Ruza before. He had united the northern tribes with a sword dripping with our blood and though we offered him the choice of our finest steeds he refused. To him it was majesty more than anything which mattered. Power was firstly in the eye of the beholder and to look upon him in battle was to bring not only fear but abject terror. To win the battle before a blow was struck that was what our lord wanted. To achieve this he lured the Wyvern Kildane from its lofty perch among the peaks with raiding parties of our warriors. The beast ate hundreds of our number as our lord learned its ways and its nature. When the time came he captured it. I swear none of us know how but in word and deed the wyvern knelt and allowed itself to be climbed and then saddled. 

Now we march behind Ruza and the Orcs flee and the Dwarves piss themselves. Our lord makes the kill and then his beast consumes it. A partnership which suits them and us too. We are rich with the plunder of a dozen peoples!” - Caltus Mac Drow.

VNT42 Lord Ruza with Lance on great Wyvern Kildane: This monster with rider contains one high quality grey tone resin very large monster kit in 28mm scale (five parts being body, head, left wing, right wing & base) as well as a metal rider (Ruza, a Chaotic allied Human in elaborate plate armour) with a two piece saddle as well as a lance tip and lance end cap in metal. Also supplied is a length of brass rod for the shaft of the lance and two lengths of brass chain to allow Lord Ruza to control Kildane.

When built this winged monster with its rider stands at 160mm tall with a wingspan of 200mm . The Wyvern (which is VNT33 Kildane) is supplied in five parts with an integral base making it super easy to assemble and rugged for wargame use. The head is outfitted with harness and mount points for chain. A great centre piece for your 28mm high fantasy army. 

A Monster Suitable for any fantasy wargame system. 

By popular request there is a less grand version of Lord Ruza which is the same rider but mounted on an armoured horse with a shorter lance.  This is code VNT42A and has also been restored to the range on the website.  A fine general for your force.

VNT33 The Wyvern Kildane returns a huge monster 200mm wingspan

“Swords drawn and pennants fluttering in the breeze the knights were assembled for battle.  They had rode and strode forth that morning their hearts strong for the killing of the beast.  Their lances and swords would put an end to the tyranny of the creature known as Kildane. Time passed and the sun moved across the sky and just as they thought the day to be without the prize the Wyvern came to them.  High up in the air a shadow crossed the glare of the sun.  A shadow that was large, far larger than they had expected.  As one they looked up....they saw their deaths there in the sky, wings spread and teeth as long as a man's arm."- The tale of Sir Alfred the only survivor of the Wyvern Kildane.

NB2R Nick Bibby 1982 Dragon released as unlimited number resin kit

At the start of March 2023 Alternative Armies returned the world a lost classic of 1980's fantasy wargaming; the mighty NB2 Dragon by Asgard Miniatures.  Remastered in new molds and metal Nick Bibby's mighty monster was presented as a now sold out run of 200 numbered box sets each of which contained the dragon plus a saddle and rider.  At the time we promised that the dragon would be released later as an unlimited much cheaper resin version of the kit (NB3 Dragon Rider and NB4 Saddle were not limited) and that day has come!   See the WEBSITE for the Dragon as well as links to articles and more about it.

There was some work done to the Dragon to allow it to be converted to resin.  This is about 5% in total but in all honesty once assembled and painted these changes cannot be seen.  They were mainly alterations to the wings and thickening to the joint plugs for wings and neck.

When assembled the Dragon is 190mm long, 150mm in height, with a wing span from 120mm to 140mm upward depending on build pose chosen.  

The Dragon is supplied in nine resin parts at 28mm scale (though it will work in other scales).  These are the body, the left wing, the right wing, the tail, the head and neck, left leg, right leg, claw and wrist, left foot, right foot.  It is a big model!

Here are two scale photos with 28mm and 15mm.  You can see just how large this model is!

Pictures of our own painted metal NB2 Dragon so you can see what it looks like all finished.  The saddle fits upon the neck and almost any Human sized rider fit for a horse will sit upon it.

This is our sole High Fantasy release for June 2023 and the company is on annual holiday and machine overhaul from the 7th June until 20th June and during that time we will not be shipping nor responding to contact (we will resume and answer once we return) but as a treat we have an automatic 20% discount off all orders at checkout (no code needed).  Oh and a free Rock Monster until 1st July as well.  Enjoy!
