59001 Czarlingrad Character pack 1998 returns for Flintloque

A code which has long, long been out of production and now it has come back to the range.  This is the first of a two stage Flintloque piece of news.  The other part being that the excellent novella Czarlingrad from 1998 written by Mike Roberts (author of Slaughterloo) return not only as an easy print free PDF with updated character rules and scenarios to 3rd edition but that it will include part two of the novella continuing the story. Newly written by Mike Roberts himself!  That will happen in August but now we present the miniatures!

59001 Czarlingrad Character Pack:  This pack contains the three primary protagonists of the novella and a great for heading up for your Ferach Empire section or your Undead of the Dark Czar section.  You can purchase the pack or single poses from it.  Captain Jacques de Payen (A) once in the elite Imperial Guard he is a survivor of Czarlingrad and now leads a rag tag group of survivors.  Sergeant Otto von Stumpenstein (B) of the Confederation of Finklestein sole living member of his original regiment hardly feels the cold and follows de Payen.  Count Valdimir Kustosov (C) former overlord of Czarlingrad needs to prove his loyalty to the Dark Czar after his failures and leads his Zombies and Skeletons after the Ferach (this miniature is also on the website as 55017).  28mm scale metal miniatures supplied with bases.

5002 Deadloque 1998 and 5002 Deadloque Miniatures:  All can be found in the Undead of the Dark Czar pages of the website.  These were the Flintloque core miniatures at the time of Czarlingrad (1998) and they have been restored as paid digital download and remastered miniatures.  Along with 55508 Zombie Line they are very useful for your games in the Witchlands.

5024 Escape the Dark Czar:  The Begin in Flintloque range is centered on General Saindoux and his retreat from the burning hell of Moskova.  A starting point of ten miniatures and three scenarios which can branch off in any direction using your Flintloque figures.  There are further releases to expand the Undead, Scenics, Elves and more plus free scenarios taking further the adventure.   Have a look.

Mr Saturdays Flintloque painted Vampyre and Zombies

In place of this month's planned Flintloque release (which will happen in October) we are pleased to present some pictures of Mr Saturday's own collection of the Undead in the World of Valon Range. Enjoy and next month it will all be swords and pistols by gad!

55509 Vampyre Officer. From the command set this is the 'dastardly' fellow as in the officer types for Slaughterloo. Along with a Liche such as Stalinov he leads a section of Zombies and Skeletons. 

 

 

5002 Deadloque – K. Putritch. One of the very worn soldiers of the Dark Czar now little more than a Skeleton clutching a musket. 

 

 

5002 Deadloque – N Fresh Zombie. A new recruit re-animated from the ranks of the 9eme Regt de Ligne formally in the service of the Emperor Mordred but no more. 

 

 

5002 Deadloque – M Fresh Zombie. Replacing the collapsed bones of Private Oblitaritch this new shambler was once in the Imperial Guard cavalry of the Grande Armee du Norde but instead he has a musket and a single purpose now. Great paintwork and lovely to see.

Asgard FM Fantasy Range 1980's returns fourth round pt3 last part

Already this month we announced the first and second parts of the big fourth round of remastered releases into the growing Tabletop and Asgard Fantasy Monsters Range where there are now over 60 returned models.  Monsters, Creatures and more by such legends as Jez Goodwin, Nick Bibby, Steve Trickett and Tony Ackland among others.  Now it is the turn of the Undead with two Vampires and some Skeletons ideal for your dungeon or your table.  Our last 28mm Fantasy for the month.

The MP30 Deaths Head Fountain!  A great scenic piece which is now in resin which allows a lower price.  Repaired from the damaged metal original master it is in three pieces and fits in really will with any high fantasy dark setting.  

We will continue our restoring of classic ranges and models by Tabletop Miniatures and Asgard Miniatures and we hope you have been enjoying it.  As an aside remolding is underway on the 15mm Laserburn Range on the 400 series Redemptionists to keep them in the fight!

5002 Deadloque painted and Flintloque 3rd ed free character profiles PDF

Last month the re-mastered and expanded classic 1998 Deadloque set of miniatures was released at Alternative Armies following a lot of Flintloque players asking about its status. A lot of happiness resulted and now that Colonel Gerard and the others are winging their way around the world we have a few more treats for you. 

 

 

We present the 5002 set of miniatures painted with larger and clearer pictures and we present a free article to download giving you 3rd edition character profiles for 5026 Death in the Snow. 55508 Zombie Line Infantry: This core set of miniatures gives you additional Zombies with Muskets for your games. 5002 Deadloque miniatures return for Flintloque and the 1998 book too

Last month ago we re-released remastered 55003 Graviski Zombie Infantry and told Flintloque fans that the classic and asked for 5002 Deadloque miniatures set would return to the website.  Alternative Armies is committed not only to the continued expansion of Flintloque but also the return of original codes out of production for many years.

Well this promise is now here and also the original 1998 Deadloque book is also now online as a very affordable paid for download.  Excellent!  This is our World of Valon news for the month of March 2022 and if you asked to be told of this news then a message has been sent to you too.

5002 Deadloque Book (1998)

The Sword of Shivalia must be possessed by the Emperor Mordred and so the greatest army ever seen enters the Witchlands. Within the walls of Moskova the trap is sprung and the Emperor barely escapes with his life.  Meanwhile hordes of Zombies and Skeletons fall upon the Grande Armee du Norde and the retreat from Moskova begins.  Can Colonel Etienne Gerard and his band of soldiers make it home alive?  Will the Vampyre officer Grigori Drascul and his rotten troops overseen by Stalinov the Liche stop them?  This is Deadloque...

The expanded Deadloque (written by Mike Roberts) was the current edition of game rules for Flintloque from 1998 to 2002 when Flintloque Reloaded was released.  While we no longer support this edition it is still perfectly playable and ALL your miniatures will work within it including those in 5024 Escape the Dark Czar.  In its pages you will find the Background to the Witchlands Campaign, the Elf Characters, the Undead Characters, Terms & Definitions, Three Scenarios, Flintloque Rules, Elf Summary Sheet, Undead Summary Sheet, Rules and Weapons Tables plus Roster Sheet and Record Sheet.  Go HERE.

Stone Cold Lead paints for the Dark Czar

It is my pleasure to present a wee update from Simon over at Stone Cold Lead figure painting (he is a very talented brush master) as he tackles some modifications and then painting our Flintloque beginners set.  5024 Escape the Dark Czar.  He maintains a presence of lovely examples of his painting on a Facebook PAGE if you wish to see more.

Thought I'd show some of the little tweaks I made to the Alternative Armies. Flintloque zombies I painted recently. Decided to add a little extra detail and make their coats a bit more dynamic.  I'm not much of a putty pusher but after the first model I soon got the hang of doing what limited 'sculpting' I wanted to do.  Guess I should have taken pics of the backs of the painted models too.  Oh well, I'll do that when the other three models are painted. Prepping more models from the Flintloque Escape from the Dark Czar starter set. Two of the Ferach survivors here.  General de Brigade Hugo Saindoux a rather tubby elf who values his cooking pot and stew, and Captain Boell Umfrage the sole survivor of an ogre regiment.  Bit of green stuff work on them to give their coats a little more shape and dynamism.  Painted another little something for my Flintloque 'project'. This time it's Count Valdimir Kustosov, a vampire. A nice diversion from the green uniformed zombies. - Taken from the Stone Cold Lead page.

Lamia Wintermore and her nemesis Lady Rosafiend

It has been my great pleasure while working at Alternative Armies to have penned the fiction in all of the books of Flintloque 3rd edition.  This includes 5026 Death in the Snow which it has been said to me many times that the conflict between two extremely powerful female characters has stayed with the reader even beyond the tabletop and play of the game.  Here is an extract from the book.

A strange perfume reminiscent of rose blossom permeated through the dank air and enraptured the group with its heady aroma. For an almost imperceptible moment, Mordred’s senses were overpowered by the puissant fragrance. As the over-whelming sensation swiftly relaxed its grip over the Elf’s faculties, he realised that another figure had joined them in the awakening hallway.

THE LADY ROSAFIEND

Moving gracefully across the now gleaming oaken floor panels towards the gathered Commanders of the invasion force was the shapely and enigmatic physique of an elegant and alluring woman. Enveloped in a voluminous black dress, her niveous skin glowed in sharp contrast to the dark finery of the gown’s material. A flowing mane of fiery red hair cascaded over her shoulders, softly caressing her back as she glided serenely to the astonished Marshals of Armorica. Casting her captivating hazel gaze towards the Emperor himself, the mysterious beauty introduced herself as the Lady Rosafiend. As her soft, delectable voice poured from her blood-red lips and swathed Mordred in its honeyed lustre, the haughty Elf knew that he had found his Empress.

Apologising for being unable to welcome the travellers earlier, Lady Rosafiend addressed her guests as if she had been expecting them, with her particular attentions being focused towards Mordred himself. Beckoning the assemblage to follow her, she led them into one of the chambers they had passed through earlier. Gesturing towards some velvet-upholstered chairs, she bade the Elves and their companions to be seated. As yet, none had questioned her near supernatural arrival in the gallery, and the congregated dignitaries of the Armorican Empire were too enraptured by her soothing tones and radiant aspect to ask even the simplest questions.

AN EXPLANATION

Anticipating their queries, Rosafiend enlightened them with an astonishing discourse made believable only by her hypnotic voice and sensuous mannerisms. Vilnau had once been a magnificent and splendid City, and she had been its ruler. Burgeoning with life, the self-sustained and vibrant metropolis grew in bounds, with its cyclopean spires clawing ever higher into the cold air, proclaiming her power throughout the territory under her exquisite dominion. However, a rival had emerged from the colder climes of the deep Witchlands.

Ingratiating herself to the Star Wraith Aleksander, Rosafiend’s female adversary had espied Vilnau and desired it for herself. Considered second only to Moskova itself, Vilnau had become a model City for the competitive aristocratic families of the Witchlands, and Rosafiend’s jealous enemy resented the esteem Vilnau had brought the noble Lady. Rosafiend, skilled in the esoteric magical arts, believed she had nothing to fear from her young competitor, a Vampyre from the ancient house of Dracsul, one of the most powerful Vampyre families of the Witchlands. The Emperor noted that she had said Vampyres, so the legends were true. He said not a word and let the fascinating and captivating lady continue.

ROSAFIEND FALLS

However, the dark machinations of Vampyres had cut down the most unassailable rulers with their vociferous lies and callous manipulations, and Rosafiend found herself unable to prevent her calculating rival from spreading insidious rumours which soon permeated the court of the Star Wraith himself. Accused of growing opulent off the generosity of Aleksander, Rosafiend found her formidable position crumbling around her. As the viperous Dracsul family awaited the day Vilnau would become theirs, Rosafiend desperately tried to avert disaster by travelling to the court of Aleksander to plead her case. Receiving a cold reception at Moskova, she failed to persuade the Star Wraith that the black-hearted Dracsul witch had merely spun a web of lies to further her own nefarious plans, and was ordered back to Vilnau....

Every now and again space opens up for new painting on an existing model and I chose to get Lamia Wintermore on foot (5005I) in some new red threads.  Very much with the notion of seeing her next to her nemesis the Lady Rosafiend..who lured the Emperor Mordred to near destruction.  I hope you like her!

The events in Death in the Snow are those which set in motion the 5024 Escape from the Dark Czar beginners set for Flintloque which follows the attempt of Ferach Survivors to evade the Undead and to get home to Armorica.  There are many free scenarios and resources for setting all on the website HERE.
