Ion Age 28mm and 3D Roleplay Con III this Weekend

We were really pleased to be approached to sponsor this year's 3D Roleplay Convention.  A con for all things classic and cool in sci-fi wargaming and its organiser Hank Richardson was firm on The Ion Age and thus Alternative Armies being part of it.  Details follow and also pictures of Hank's own 28mm Muster troops as well.  If you are in the local or near area then consider popping along.  There is a lot going on and prizes to win.

First up here are the details of the third annual 3D Roleplay Con! A three-day Oldhammer gaming convention in Sellwood & at W.O.W. — happening on May 19th, 20th & 21st, 2023. In addition to the usual two days at Smile Station in Sellwood, there is also a free 'Opening Day' of 3DR Con on Friday May 19th, 2023 at Western Oregon Wargamers from 11am-7pm! This will involve, primarily, big-box oldhammer games such as Space Hulk, Man O' War & the like. New 50mm Round joins our array of Bases for Miniatures

There are now thirty five different packs of bases for your miniatures or dioramas at Alternative Armies with the adding of 59029 50mm Round Base (Pack of Four).  These new bases are resin and we have other packs in resin as well as in metal and other materials too.

Our bases go from 16mm round to 100mm round as well as 20mm square to 50mm square and include element bases for systems such as HOTT 2nd edition and Patrol Angis.  Some packs have a 'scale' in them where the more your purchase the bigger the saving and most packs have a 'buy three save 10%' option on page.

59029 50mm Round Base: This pack contains four identical Resin Bases of 50mm Diameter and a 3mm Thickness. These bases join all of our other rounds (20mm, 30mm, 40mm, 75mm, 100mm) and are ideal for use with 15mm and 28mm scale miniatures and are used for large monsters and war machines and vehicles. 

One of the more exotic bases in the range is the IAF160 Anti-Gravity Base which allows you to mount vehicles or such upon it to have them 'hover' in the air on your gaming table.

Space Marines 28mm by Asgard new pictures and value pack

Some of the first and finest 28mm scale Space Marines ever made (to us anyway) with a classic style all of their own. We are delighted to announce new improved pictures of the entire SM code series by Asgard.  Single miniatures and a value pack of all of them with a saving.  On top of this we also have a few scaling shots as well and a line up of the restored HA code series of Space Adventurers and Pirates.  See them all HERE.

Originally made in 1980 for the Combat 3000 and then Laserburn rule systems (also coming out in 15mm scale too a bit later) Alternative Armies brought these miniatures back to the world a few years ago.  We had been asked for larger images and now this has happened.  Each miniature has a front and rear view.

There are thirteen different figures from unarmoured Space Troopers and an Energy Mortar to light armoured and then battle armoured Space Marines including one in flight on a pillar of flame.

We are restoring the HA series of Space Adventurers and Pirates and above is what we have thus far to offer.  Also a scale shot alongside SM codes for comparison.

Von Rotte Legion Dwarf divisional army pack for Slaughterloo and Flintloque

Swearing an oath of fealty to the Elvish Emperor Mordred the Baron Von Rotte was given command not only of his own soldiers but also some of those belonging to the Emperor in his wars against Krautia and Ostaria. A veteran in the truest sense the Baron has been at war since the Darke Age and is a master of battle.  Atop his pummilig pig ‘Bristle’ he serves up the mead of victory to Mordred. The Dwarf legions of the Red Baron are among the most experienced troops in Urop and it shows. Rushed from region to region, the regiments of foot along with the famous grenadiers and the cavalry take on foes that lesser troops would shy away from. Come into the Bar Room we have the furniture all laid out

As the Summer Campaign event 2020 draws towards its close on 1st September we are happy to present to you the first codes from the classic 1980's scenic range 'The Bar Room' which we have brought back to the world.  Originally from Tabletop Games these 28mm pieces fit into any fantasy or historical setting as well as roleplay and dungeon crawl.  We shall be continuing with these codes as the year progresses. The Oval Table, the Large Table, Long Bench Seat, Chair and Set of Shelves.  All of these are released as single codes and all save for the Shelves can be had in a bundle with a saving of about ten percent as well.  These pieces go excellently with the Wizards Workshop miniatures which are all in the Guild Room too.  Potions, Books, Scrolls, Bags & Capes.  You can see in the pictures here how well they suit.

"The tribe chose her for her strength.  Kalene had killed the fearsome one eared snow panther which had carried off old and young alike. This female miniature is great in any 28mm scale game system or RPG system as a character.  Inspired by the classic 1980's fantasy films and the Torture Chamber range restored on our website. Half nude barbarian with stone dagger and skull standard.  Stands 28mm tall. Dwarf Runic Golem - 65mm tall Warmachine

"The Guild of Spellsmiths and the Guild of Blacksmiths do not often clank tankards of Beir but when they do great things happen. Imagine said Gumblebeard the greatest of the white wizards what we could do with an axe wielder as large as the common Troll but alas our magics will not take a physical form on the field of battle without intricate preparation. Such preparation is hard enough without some stinking Gobber trying to cave your skull in. Tamble 'Blowback' Rustmaker chief of the Guild of Blacksmiths replied to this impassioned speech without spilling a drop of golden hops. Such a huge warrior would be most welcome and we can hammer and smith our way to clothing him but there is no Dwarf in the realm so big to wear it... Sparkes or raw mind forging flew from them both and with a resounding clank of tankards they spoke in unison. Between us we can build it and bind it with magic runes. A golem will take to the field of battle. A Dwarf Runic Golem!"

The BR003 Stalker Missile Tank is a medium vehicle in the Star Legion and carries two batteries of long range variable load missiles.

The BR005 Nemian Assault Tank is a midway point in armour for the Star Legion and mixes firepower with infantry carrying capacity.

The BR006 Tiger Combat Walker is a main stay of the Star Legion and can be outfitted with missile pods or gatling cannon or anti-material cannons.

The BR018 T47 Main Battle Tank is a constant part of the Colonial Army and comes in seven different marks suitable for all manner of battlefield roles.

The BR025 Ironclad Superheavy Tank is one of the largest armoured vehicles in the Colonial Army and sports an array of cannons in primary and secondary roles; capable of dealing with a dozen main battle tanks with ease.

The BR026 Lynx Scout Walker preforms the role of reconnaissance for the Star Legion ground forces and is capable of defending itself in rough ground.

The BR027 Corvo Dropship is the mammoth lifter which brings Star Legion platoons of power armoured troops, light vehicles or a troop of medium vehicles into the battle space from orbit or intra continental.
