Obidiahs Deserter Army set remolded and now singles!

We are delighted to present a classic Flintloque set now in new molds and expanded out onto the website for 2021.  From the late 1990's it is 5006 Obidiahs Army sixteen character miniatures on foot.  Go HERE for the deserter army or read on for more.

The Dwarf paused as Obidiah stirred in his sleep. The Orc‟s snoring became broken as he rolled over, mumbling incoherently “...git im muvver, shall y'no...”. Furtively glancing round the camp at the other sleeping forms of his deserter „comrades‟, Sven Nockwusrt silently thanked the gods which had seen him pull guard duty this night and thanked providence for giving him the opportunity that he craved. As Obidiah's guttural snoring rhythmically sounded around the camp once more, Sven cautiously moved towards the Orc and the object of his nefarious stalking - Obidiah's bicorne!

Since joining the deserter band two weeks previous, Sven had noticed the strange practice “General” Obidiah had of whispering and talking into his hat. Of course there could only be one explanation for this seemingly insane behaviour - it must contain some item of value, maybe gold or even a treasure map - yes, surely a treasure map!

Slowly, and with extreme care, Sven prised the bicorne from Obidiah‟s fingers and carried it carefully back to the smouldering ashes of the campfire. Sitting down, he opened the bicorne and looked inside... nothing? Nothing?!! Verdamndt!! Where was the treasure?! Surely the Orc wasn't so insane that he talked to his empty hat?! Mad enough to call a hat Muvver?!!!

It was a question for which Sven would never receive an answer. Before he could utter a sound, a swarthy calloused hand covered his mouth, whilst a knife was jammed up under his chin, burying itself deep within the Dwarf‟s brain.

Dropping the corpse to the ground, Obidiah licked his knife clean before picking his bicorne up off the floor. Stroking it affectionately, Obidiah whispered quietly;

"No one touches you Muvver, No one..."

So begins the story of former Sergeant of the 62nd Foote now turned General of the Deserter Army one Obidiah Hogswill.  One of the most eclectic and interesting armies in the World of Valon you will find many different races and ranks within it but all with one thing in common; that their own armies want to see them swing from a rope!

We have produced new pictures of this set and now each of the sixteen poses can be had on its own in any amount plus the full set gives a ten percent discount off single purchases.  Here is a list of the characters:

It is our intention to continue the growth of Flintloque in 2021 not only with brand new releases and with re-mastered existing packs but also with remolding and offering as singles other big sets such as Obidiah's Cavalry.  There is so much to see in the World of Valon.

Every order this month automatically gets a free 'Case of Shotte' model added to it (see it HERE) and this is really great for Flintloque scenarios involving the Deserter Army.

Later this week in conjunction with the fantastic Flintloque resources website Orcs in the Webbe we will bring you the 5006 Obidiah's Army booklet fully updated to 3rd edition rules with lots of added statistics and rules for characters in play.  Watch out for news on this.

On Valentines Day we are posting up a brand new free Flintloque scenario called 'Boom Boom Bonkins' which will see leading lady Dotti in a solo play adventure involving Orc Dragoons as she springs a surprise upon an ex-amore!  This will be on our blog to download.

HobGoblin Miser and Othari Aristo released for Flintloque plus free downloads

Two new 28mm releases from Alternative Armies for the World of Valon and the game systems Flintloque and Slaughterloo.  Both miniatures are characters who also have a free digital download with game rules and more on our website.

Go HERE for the Miser and HERE for the Aristo or read on for more.  These follow up on the recent free Flintloque four page resource for playing Othari in the game which you can find HERE for free download.

KEEPING THE COUNT STRAIGHT
Coins don’t fall from the sky. Coins come from those not willing to give them and they try to escape your grasp as quickly as they can; as if it were fabled Wylde Magicke. Keeping the count straight falls to those in the commissariat, to those in the back room with the thick leather purses and those in secure rooms with guards outside.

Who keeps the count straight? What kind of being is taken on byMagnates, by Generals, by Kings? A special breed known as the ‘Miser’. A miser never spends any coins. Not those of his employer nor those of his own. This makes him excellent for seeking out the breaches and drains where coins leak away.

In the Army of Albion and the great counting houses of Londinium there is a shortage of Gnomes so the misers are on the whole Hob Goblins from Taffsea and Ratmen from Joccia. Coming from the cobbles streets where murder, starvation and robbery are commonplace a miser who survives that upbringing develops an almost supernatural sense to where money can be found.

Many rank and file Orcs have found themselves swinging from ropes or facing the tender mercies of a Bessie musket when a miser has uncovered their taking of a few pennies. Several Lords and other notables have been reduced to penury in the same manner. Watch out for a miser with authority..they keep the counts straight.

53016 Hob Goblin Miser
This code contains one 28mm scale white metal miniature which stands about 28mm tall.  A civilian in long coat and hat with pad and pencil to keep the count.  This miniature works well in many game systems in High Fantasy and of course Flintloque and Slaughterloo.  Goes excellently with the Orcs of Albion plus Valon Civilians.  You can purchase this code unpainted or painted and based for immediate play.  Supplied with a 25mm square base.  Price 2.00GBP.  Go HERE.

We have created a one page article called 'Keeping the Count Straight' which contains a short tale, rules for Flintloque, rules for Slaughterloo as well as a scenario seed which is hosted on our website as a PDF; click HERE to download it to your device.  Enjoy.

YANI OTHARAN - A NEW GENTLEORC
The ailing Otharmann Empyre is an exotic and semi magicke place which is filled with contrasts. From the rich bazaars and gardens of Istanbaal to the dirt and bloody soaked sands of Aegypt the Sultan rules over many millions. While Urop is far off there are those among the Othari who wish to become more like them. From the Janissaries who have become the ‘new model army’ to merchants who sell the fashions of Londinium and Lyonesse.

A son of a wealthy Istanbaal cloth seller Yani Otharan begged his father for enough gold to travel to Urop and to see for himself the places of soot, smoke and mighty ships. With an agreement and an promise to return to his family in two years time Yani set out from the Blaake Seafor Ostaria to begin his tour. With little experience of the world outside of his home city and equipped with a lot of coin and an idea of how a ‘gentleorc’ behaves it was not long until Yani became a real fop. After coming near being robbed he hired an entourage of Dogmen as guides and protectors. Yani Otharan is now on his way to Venna the capital of Ostaria and hopes, despite his guides pleas not to, to meet the Emperor Klaffenhund. The Othari Aristo has attracted a lot of attention with his generous tipping of anyone who crosses his path. There may be a full scale riot!

57039 Othari Aristo
This code contains one 28mm scale white metal miniature which stands about 28mm tall.  A wealthy Othari in fine clothes with tricorne hat and lace hankerchief.  This miniature works well in many game systems in High Fantasy and of course Flintloque and Slaughterloo.  Goes excellently with the Othermann Empyre range plus Valon Civilians.  You can purchase this code unpainted or painted and based for immediate play.  Supplied with a 25mm square base.  Price 2.00GBP.  Go HERE.

We have created a one page article called 'A Real Fop' which contains a short tale, rules for Flintloque, rules for Slaughterloo as well as a scenario seed which is hosted on our website as a PDF; click HERE to download it to your device.  Excellent!

A free Flintloque resource to download from our Website on the Otharmann Empyre page HERE. The Othari in Flintloque 3rd edition a free download

Next week Alternative Armies is releasing a new Othari so we thought it would be nice to publish the play test resource which we are building for the still far off 'Blood on the Sand' game book for Flintloque 3rd edition.  Four pages with all you need to bolt onto any other game book and to get Othari and Aegyptian Halflings onto your table.  Go HERE for the range and the link for the download.

A free Flintloque resource to download from our Website on the Otharmann Empyre page HERE. Four pages giving you an introductory background plus racial tables and unique rules plus notes for getting Othari and Aegyptian Halflings into your games.  It is a playtest official document for which you will need to add any game book for 3rd edition or the 5024 Escape the Dark Czar beginners box set to get the rules to get the figures on the table.  It is a bolt on article.  So if you have Janissaries, Household Warriors, Camelry and other Othari troops this is an article for you as we test things out for 'Blood on the Sand'.

The Otharmann Empyre is often seen as the sick weakling of the great powers of Valon but that is not quite true.  Certainly the Emperor Mordred destroyed their army at the Battle of the Pyramids but the Elves were so outnumbered that it was a close run thing.  The Othari get aid from the Army of Albion and its Royul Navye as well as having more Wylde Magicke than any Elf, Orc or Dwarf army can manage.  Few know that the bulk of the Sultan's war hosts are tied up in an endless three way struggle in the Odeatha region against the minions of the Dark Czar and others.  Aegypt is only a part of the glittering scimitar of the Otharmann Empyre.

We hope you enjoy this free download and feedback is welcome by message, email or comment.

New Othari plus Camel and Gnoll codes now released

As many Flintloque and Slaughterloo players noticed over the past six weeks or so the Otharmann Empyre, land of the Sultan and the Othari, has been looking a little thin.  Some codes and units have not been on the website and stocks have run out of them with our partners such as Noble Knight Games (if you are in the USA check out our vast ranges with them online) the reason for this was sublime and fun too.  They have been replaced.  They have retained their contents but with changes from white metal to resin and from some models to new versions of them.  All of this updating was a part of our lead into the new projects for Valon but more on that later.  For now go HERE to see the Otharmann Empyre or read on for details and pictures of what is now here.

“Othari of the Otharmann Empire. The proud Ottermen control a vast Empire of mountains and endless sands. They ally themselves loosely with the Grand Alliance when it suits their needs, but they real enemies are the Ferach Empire forces in Aegypt and the numberless legions of the Dark Czar in the Odeatha region.  An army of a vast horde of troops more suited to the Darke Age than the Mordredian Wars topped with the elite Janissaries then the bulk of the Household warriors and then the enslaved Al-Hazrad.  A unique and colourful presence in The World of Valon.”

We have a brand new African Camel in 28mm scale in resin which you can purchase on its own and also now with two different riders one an Othari with Lance and the other an Othari with long Jezail musket.  We have reduced the price of these models to reflect the new medium of production.  Please note the Elf Officer shown in some pictures is there for scale and is not supplied.

57026V African Camel
This pack contains one 28mm scale resin African camel which can be used on its own or with a rider or baggage in any game setting.  Go HERE.

The Otharmann Empyre makes great use of primitive cannon which fire huge stone balls at their Elvish and Undead foes.  We have updated the mighty Barking Dog Cannon with a resin body and a price reduction too!

57500A Barking Dog Heavy Cannon
The Artillery of the Otharmann Empyre is known as the 'Barking Dogs'.  Big and slow cannons that often fire stone balls as well as iron.  This is a specialised artillery piece. One Othari archaic cannon body in resin with two white metal Wheels and a two different white metal Barrels (medium or heavy). One Massive Specialised Field Gun Kit. Suitable for use with any Othari Army.  Assembly Required. Go HERE.

57500 Othari Gun Crew
The gunners of the Otharmann are poor by the standards of the rest of Valon but they are plentiful and make good use of their Barking Dog Cannons.  Limber Beasts are expensive so slaves pull the guns into position.  This pack contains an entire Othari Gun Crew of seven 28mm scale white metal miniatures.  An Officer, Rammer, Ball carrier, Spike, Water Carrier and two slaves.  You can add ropes to the slaves or use thread or metal wire (not supplied).  Supplied with resin cartouche style bases.  Go HERE.
