Orcs in the Webbe now hosting Barking Irons sci-fi content

This message was taken from the Notables Yahoo Group and I will wanted to tell all of you who are not members about it.  Craig Andrews is continuing his good work and expanding the Barking Irons Online material that is now at his Orcs in the Webbe.  Click on through if you are interested.  Thanks for Reading.  GBS

Heya Folks!

Three years ago today saw the launch of Barking Irons Online, an official online gaming portal for all of Alternative Armies' rulesets. When BIO passed into the West last year most of the Flintloque, Typhon and Erin content moved over onto Orcs in the Webbe with AA's blessing.

Today I can announce that we have also agreed with AA to host the science fiction content that previously graced BIO's hallowed pages. As we build up to Salute (where you can pick up the miniatures required to play through most of the scenarios) you can enjoy more and more of the BIO's sci fi content on it's new home within OITW. There's scenarios, campaigns and rules expansions for a swath of systems including The Ion Age's Firefight 2.0 and Moth as well as USEME and HOF Fire Team.

In this, the tenth year of Orcs in the Webbe, things are going to keep getting bigger and better. We have some great plans coming up and I can say with my hand on my heart and with more gusto than normal...

Keep the Flag Flying! (trust me, it'll be worth it!)

Just a quick blog post to let you all know the the new print run of 5027 Grapeshotte 3rd edition has now arrived with us and that means that Grapeshotte and all the other 3rd Edition books are now in stock. Huzzah!

We sold out of Grapeshotte all of a sudden, it was quite a surprise.  Our titles are steady sellers but we went through the last pile very quickly hence the out of production posting.  Everyone who had registered an interest in being told when the new books arrived has been informed and thank you for your orders since this morning.

Every one of the four books contains ninety six pages with three of them being game books featuring full rules and a campaign setting each while the last (Grapeshotte) works with any of the other three and tells you all about the artillery and armoury of the World of Valon.

Remember that not only can you take advantage of the current Salute 2014 promotion to use a code to get 15% off the price of your order in our webshop but you can also also get the Trilogy Bundle of three Flintloque books which already includes a saving and will save you even more.  Learn more about the books and the bundle on our website.

The 3rd Edition Trilogy bundle
So take advantage of our yearly Salute offer and get yourself into Flintloque or expand your reading if you are already a fan.  These books, on the whole written by me, are labours of love that are great reads and are packed full of fun and excellent wargaming too.

Christian Ceullo on making 56131 Barkhoven

The Designer's take on Barkhoven in paint!
The designer who sculpted the brand new 56131 Ludwig Von Barkhoven miniature for Alternative Armies has posted a look at the original sculpt along with his thoughts on the process of the creation and take up of the miniature. While you can currently get this miniature free with any order at Alternative Armies (automatically) see here you are and will be able to buy it from now onwards with us too.

On a personal note I have found Christian to be an excellent fellow to work with and he has a nice eye for miniature design and a good sense of humour too.  I do wonder what he will create next for the World of Valon.

You can visit the original post on Christian's blog HERE.  Have a look.

Thanks for Reading.

Salute 2014 Season Offers

Its that time of year again and Alternative Armies is in the grip of convention season fever!  We will be attending Salute 2014 at Excel in London on Saturday the 12th of April 2014.  Alternative Armies trade stand is TF07 and our theme this year is 'The Ion Age - 15mm Science Fiction'.  Our sister websites 15mm.co.uk and The Ion Age also have promotions running and are on our trade stand.

The Ion Age theme means that we will not be bringing any of our other ranges this year, that means no Flintloque and Slaughterloo or High Fantasy from Alternative Armies. No 15mm Fantasy or 15mm Historicals or Science Fiction (but the latest HOF 15mm Science Fiction will be there) from 15mm.co.uk. The products at stand TF07 on the day  will be entirely 15mm Ion Age range (miniatures, resin, terrain and books).

Code is: salute01

To that end we are offering a code to get 15% off any and all online orders with us valid until Monday 14th April 2014.  This offer is open to all customers across the world. If you are not attending then use it! If you are attending then use it!  As before we have the option to 'collect at salute' if you are attending which will save you the postage charge too.  If you choose to collect in person then, regardless if its from Alternative Armies or 15mm.co.uk  or The Ion Age your package will be waiting for you with your name on it at Stand TF07, ask for it by name.

Use the code 'salute01' as it appears here during the checkout process (white background page) in the VOUCHER box (top of the screen) and your product total will automatically reduce 15% on screen.  You select postage option first before checkout (choose Collect at Salute if you are coming on the day).

56131 Barkhoven free in every order!
As an extra bit of fun EVERY order placed with Alternative Armies during this offer period will automatically get a brand new and free 56131 Ludwig Von Barkhoven miniature (worth 2.00GBP) included in the package.  I will put it in myself in each package, I have a box of them on my desk!   See that miniature HERE.

Attending or Not Attending use The Code!

Go along to our other websites where they are offering 15% off all orders and collection on the day too.  Go to the Convention Page for more.

56131 Ludwig Von Barkhoven Released for Flintloque!

56131 Ludwig Von Barkhoven
Its been a quiet year so far for Flintloque in terms of releases but this is set to change over coming months but for now we have a new 28mm white metal character miniature for you to add to your collections.  He is pictured above and you may have heard of him!

Ludwig Von Barkhoven is a famous musical hound from the tiny comic opera barony of Bonnix. He is currently in Ostaria after a daring raid by Jagers of the Frei Corps on orders of the mad Emperor Klaffenhund stole him from the wooden palace of Baron Lobotoinz ruler of Bonnix. His music is known all over Urop and indeed while the piano's and violins play he often howls along in tune to his greatest works including 'Furry Eliss' and his nine 'Symphoundies'. There is a long running fued between Barkhoven and Motesbark over who is top musical Dog. The Ferach are keen to get him back but with the current war in the Witchlands and in Aegypt they have a lot on their plates without try this; they might make a Gross Fudge of it.

In Flintloque treat this miniature generically as an Experienced / Civilian who is unarmed. Alternative Armies has an official Barkhoven character profile as a free PDF when its ready*  This miniature is very useful for all Flintloque and Slaughterloo players (and those of a fantasy feel too) as a scenario objective or battle force token.

You can see the miniature here.  The price is 2.00GBP and as always you can also have the miniature pro-painted and based by our experienced team here in Scotland.  Select your option on the page.

We will be having more posts across the month or so about Barkhoven on the blog including his character profile and a look at how the designer of the miniature painted his own vision of Barkhoven.

*I am in the process of writing it and looking for input from the Notables Yahoo Group too.

Congratulations to The Ion Age with brand new 28mm release!

Celebrations at Alternative Armies!
First new 28mm Greens released since the 1990's.

Its been nearly half a year since we sent off our sister brand The Ion Age out into the world and boy has she grown.  Today marks a special event for the 28mm Ion Age range that although still a part of us is on its own website.  Today IB52 Muster Female Squad was released.  A brand new pack of miniatures sculpted by Sam Croes our own lead designer.  Four ladies of war that would be at home in any sci-fi collection.  There will be many more 28mm releases but we wanted to tell you all about this first one.  This is the first new sculpts in the range (not conversions but full greens) since we think 1994.

So if you are interested, if you own a copy of Firefight or MOTH that came from us or you have collected Ion Age miniatures since the early 1990's click on this link and have a look.

Thanks for reading.
