Above are Byzantine heavy cavalry with lance and with bow as well as mounted command from codes BYC3, BYC4 and BYC8.  The figures can be used for any game system of course and these are based for the 'Command and Colours Medieval Rules' as stated on Colonel Cambell's blog.

Sculpted by John Bell. Go HERE for the full range to browse.

Great for any setting and game system to which they are suited including playing Monster Hunter.

SGFP50 Graveyard Set: This pack contains twelve mixed models randomly but evenly of stone marker, two different grave stones and two different Sotobas fences.  Great scenery set for your Japanese village or for hunting out bandits or Yokai.  Taken from codes SGF174,175,176 and SGF177.  The pack offers a small saving off purchasing each scenic piece on its own.

Each Human miniature is approx 16mm tall. Miniatures are supplied unassembled and unpainted without a base.  Bases used in the pictures are 20mm round for scale comparison picture. Each of these new miniatures is in the range as a single code as well for maximum choice.  Go HERE.

HOT128 Lizard Ogres released HOT 15mm Fantasy Range

Now added to the new Savage Lizardmen part of the mighty HOT range a new pack of two poses of Lizard Ogres!  This is our sole release in this scale and genre in May. Go HERE to browse the range or read on.

“Arid land of rocks and sand giving nothing for free except pain and misery.  From this land and its caves came the savage tribes of Lizardmen for whom war is constant need of life; for who controls scarce water controlled existence itself.  All would have continued thus but for travellers who, as they were tortured and then consumed, let it be known that richer places lay over the blistering horizon.  Places to be conquered.  Places to be ruled by the tribes.”

HOT128 Lizard Ogres

This code contains two different metal 15mm scale miniatures each is approx 20mm tall.  Lizard Ogres are the hulking brethren of the Savage Lizardmen and are used as muscle against the foe. Lizard Ogre with club in both hands (pose 1) and Lizard Ogre holding a boulder overhead (pose 2). As with all HOT 15mm Fantasy codes you can purchase the pack or you can choose a sampler which in this code allows choice or each of the miniatures as a single; a great way to try or to make skirmish forces with HOT.

All miniatures are supplied unpainted and without bases (shown on 20mm square bases from our ranges).  Other images give scale comparisons and these codes not supplied.  Go HERE.

We began this new fantasy army last month with three packs of warriors, spears and polearms and it is our intention to expand each month towards a full force of infantry, monsters, cavalry, command and artillery in 2021.  Thank you for your kind words and you can use these miniatures in any suitable rules system.

Space Marines 28mm by Asgard new pictures and value pack

Some of the first and finest 28mm scale Space Marines ever made (to us anyway) with a classic style all of their own. We are delighted to announce new improved pictures of the entire SM code series by Asgard.  Single miniatures and a value pack of all of them with a saving.  On top of this we also have a few scaling shots as well and a line up of the restored HA code series of Space Adventurers and Pirates.  See them all HERE.

Originally made in 1980 for the Combat 3000 and then Laserburn rule systems (also coming out in 15mm scale too a bit later) Alternative Armies brought these miniatures back to the world a few years ago.  We had been asked for larger images and now this has happened.  Each miniature has a front and rear view.

There are thirteen different figures from unarmoured Space Troopers and an Energy Mortar to light armoured and then battle armoured Space Marines including one in flight on a pillar of flame.

We are restoring the HA series of Space Adventurers and Pirates and above is what we have thus far to offer.  Also a scale shot alongside SM codes for comparison.

Go along to the website to see all that there is.  In addition to the Asgard range we also have the huge Ion Age 28mm range and the Alternate Stars 28mm range of character miniatures. Not to forget the Loud Ninja Games and Ganesha ranges of 28mm science fiction. Plenty to see and to use with any game system so we have been told.

F34 Winged Fiend classic Tabletop Fantasy miniature released

Now returned to the world an excellent fantasy miniature last seen in the 1980's.  The Winged Fiend is suitable for any scale and for lots of game systems too.  You can see it in the gradually expanding classic Tabletop Games 15mm Fantasy range HERE on our website.

F34 Winged Fiend: Summoned to the mortal realms or brought by magic to the lands of reality the Winged Fiend will do your bidding in a pact which will cost you your soul! This code contains one metal miniature supplied in two pieces these being the fiend holding pitchfork and a set of wings.  It is 24mm to the top of the horns.

While part of the 15mm scale range this creature can be used in any other scale too as our image shows alongside a Medus 15mm Knight and General Saindoux a 28mm scale Elf.  Sculpted by Tony Ackland in the early 1980's.  Go HERE.

Alternative Armies has completed the task of returning the Torture Chamber Range to the world and is now moving on to Collectors Sets (such as the Orc Rock Band and Orc Family Outing) as well as the Science Fiction of Asgard and Tabletop Games.  There are also more 15mm Fantasy Monsters to be restored and we are working on these too.  The Winged Fiend is the first 'F' code of several coming in 2021.  We thank everyone for their support in this legacy effort.

Imperial Commander out of print and RIP Richard Halliwell

Update 17th May 2021.  The book is now in a new print run and returned to the website on the links below.  Thank you. GBS

In the final hours of our March to War 2021 event the print run of Imperial Commander sold out.  We learned soon afterwards that its author the wargaming legend Richard Halliwell had sadly passed away. We will have the book back in stock hopefully during May and will let you all known when it happens. Go HERE for the Laserburn and Asgard 15mm range. Our thoughts are with Richard Halliwell's family at this sad time and you can read more HERE on ICv2.

Imperial Commander was published initially in 1981 and deals with a more mass combat in the Laserburn universe rather than character focused skirmishing of the core rules.  Written to stand on their own these rules assumed thirty to fifty miniatures a side.

If you would like a see more about Laserburn there is an excellent video Codex Compliant by Snipe and Wib channel. An eighteen minute look at the Laserburn rule book and the fiction and rules of this classic game.  They may move onto looking at Imperial Commander in the future if asked.

Thank you for your time.

Harpy free in May orders and news at Alternative Armies

"Bird-bodied, girl-faced things Harpies are; abominable their droppings, their hands are talons, their faces haggard with hunger insatiable" - Virgil Aeneid Book III

May begins and a new free miniature in every order is here for this entire month.  The Harpy! You need do nothing but place an order which requires to be shipping anywhere in the world (no Digital Download orders only sorry!) of any size and we will automatically include this miniature.  As many orders as you want and ends 9am GMT 1st June 2021.

HE06-01 Harpy: This metal miniature is supplied in two pieces (Harpy and Wings) and stands 25mm tall when assembled.  Great for many settings including mythology and high fantasy.  The Harpy stands bare breasted, leg raised with a spiked club ready to strike. Go HERE.

Alternative Armies News for May

With the completion of the Torture Chamber Range we are turning to the 15mm Fantasy Range to restored more classic Tabletop Games models and miniatures.  In May we will have the first restored creature the Winged Fiend. The 28mm Space Marines have been re-molded and new photos will be shown of these Asgard classics.  Imperial Commander has just gone out of stock in the Laserburn range and will return.  Two packs in our Adventurers and Wizards 28mm fantasy range have been taken offline to re-mastering (CA6 and CA7) and will return soon.  Sengoku will get further 15mm releases with a graveyard set and singles of markers and sotobas.  The new Savage Lizardmen army will expand in the HOT 15mm Fantasy range with a new release giving more muscle.  We will have a new piece of 28mm scale Terrain as well to follow up on the Wayside Shrine and it will have additional pieces too.

Flintloque will see the re-release of the original Legion de Nain pack codes following up on the new Legion de Nain Line in April.  As well as new molds of these Dwarf infantry and command poses there is also the gun team and separate codes of the mounted officer on pony and the Dwarf Messenger plus a new officer with sword on foot to complete a classic foot command pack.  Alongside these packs we are replacing the existing Dodo, Pig and Boar mounts for Al-Garvey Goblins, Krautian Dwarves, Confederation Dwarves with new poses in metal and resin of these creatures. These will allow us to lower the price of affected cavalry codes and you will be able to get these creatures on their own as well.

Lastly the first of our postponed projects will be happening across May 2021 and that is Erin.  Our Irish Celtic Mythology 28mm range will be going out of stock on the website shortly. The range will return with new images and new formations of codes all in preparation for our planned expansion of Erin and a new edition of the game rules as well.  There are some poses of Fomorian and Sidhe which have not been seen in many years and these will appear too.  News on this will occur on our blog.
